I can't fix you, but I can help you pick up the pieces and put you back together again.” |
While developing my first three pieces, I had based them off of my three rescued dogs and their presumed pasts, showing that dogs can come from the darkest of environments but still be lovable and protecting if treated right. Pieces 4 and 6 touch on the fact that dogs are slaughtered and served to people, either in a stew or cooked through like steak, their eyes staring back with the love they could've shared. Piece 5 shows a police dog, its meaning being that dogs are willing to risk their lives to protect who they love and are loyal to their owners, no matter the breed. Piece 7 references dog food, which is represented by pencil shavings, being that, despite making them live longer, is actually very dangerous to their digestive systems due to the chemicals the food is coated with to preserve shelf life rather than the dogs themselves. Piece 8 shows the inside of a basset hound's head, a child laying underneath a planet and a heart, meaning that the kid is the dog's love and their entire world, and that's all they ever think about. Piece 10 shows a canine with wings jumping out of a dark cavern, representing that there is always faith in the darkest of times when one has a furry friend there to help them.
